The primary mission of the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is to offer young musicians musical training and ensemble experiences of the highest possible level.

While touring is not essential to the fulfillment of this mission, orchestra trips serve to:

intensify the ensemble’s musical focus,

build awareness of diverse musical and culture traditions,

strengthen camaraderie among RPYO musicians,

enlarge students’ perceptions of the world they inhabit, and, as a result,

inspire thrilling musical performances and treasured memories.

The RPYO in earlier years toured in Europe, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Canada, and, domestically, in Alaska and New York State.
